One Year Old

It occurred to me that I haven't posted Sophia's one year pictures yet. I decided to show just a few of the 73 pictures that were taken. I think they turned out really well. She did so well. Who could have guess that she would have loved the camera? Do you think it is due to all the blog pictures she has had taken of her?

Our Little Escape Artist

This "photo shoot" started because Sophia was wearing the cutest little dress and I wanted to get some pictures of her. After the cute pictures, Sophia took off for the street. She walks so fast and even runs. She is so hard to keep track of. She looks so small to be walking and running so fast. Cory got the job of chasing after her as I snapped some pictures.

Looking so cute. Check out those posed feet.

Now that the cute pictures were done, she decided to make a run for it.

Picnic in the Park

On Sunday we decided to take Sophia to the park for a picnic. We got some fried chicken and were enjoying a great meal when Sophia dumped her little crunchies on the ground. About one billion geese swarmed us. It was not cool. Especially when birds freak out both Jessica and I. Sophia on the other hand enjoyed them a lot. After lunch we took her to the playground and on a walk. She had a lot of fun.

Going down the little slide then the bigger slide with Daddy. Cory got stuck because he was too tall to sit up at the end of the slide.

Little Girls Turn 1

Last Saturday, Angie and I had a luau birthday party for Sophia and Libby. My longtime friend, Jessica, drove down from Indianapolis to celebrate the day with us. We had a lot of fun and the girls seemed to enjoy it. Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate our special girl's day.

Family Birthday Party

Yet another birthday party for this poor, deprived, little girl. We had Cory's family and my parents over to celebrate Sophia's birthday on Saturday. We had a late lunch, played in the pool, ate cake, and opened presents. Sophia had a great time with her family. She did take a nap in the middle of the festivities. She almost fell asleep in her high chair again, this time with watermelon in her mouth. Boy does she love watermelon. Also, suprisingly, blueberries.

I have to brag on myself a little now. I made the cake. It is my first official homemade, decorated cake that I did all by myself. I am quite proud of it. I saw the idea for a caterpillar cake on the internet and had to do it. I will admit that I did a trial run, but it is all my work. I wasn't sure if Sophia would even notice it, but when she saw it she made an "ooohhh" sound and smiled. Really, what more do I need than that? When we put her up next to the cake she talked to the caterpillar and then ate her eyes and nose off.

Thanks to our families who came over to celebrate our special girl's first birthday.

Oh, the cake. She was talking to the caterpillar. Then thinking about eating the eyes.

Eating an eye. Sitting with her cousin Adrian. Boy, there are a lot of presents.

Helping Daddy open presents. Playing with her new toy with Daddy and Alyssa. She couldn't put her babydoll down. She loves sitting in her new chair.

Playdate with Libby and Angie

It has been a while since we had a playdate with Libby. This Friday Angie and Libby came over to swim after running some errands together. We had so much fun. Angie and I raced the girls across the pool and the girls had a zerbert contest with eachother. Is there any doubt that some competitiveness runs in families? We had a great time and look forward to doing it again soon.

After coming in and drying off, the girls changed into their matching outfits from Aunt Julia and posed for some pictures. Boy is it hard to keep two mobile girls still for pictures.

Dining out on Sophia's Birthday

On Wednesday, Sophia's Birthday, we met MiMi in for lunch at McDonalds. Sophia enjoyed her own happy meal with chicken nuggets and apples and then enjoyed a kiddie cone for desert. She loves ice cream. She was so sad when it was gone.

She loved the chicken nuggets so much that she had two in her hands at all times. She had a hard time drinking her apple juice with both hands full until MiMi helped her out.

Ice cream sure is good!

For dinner Cory, Sophia and I met my mom and dad at Olive Garden. Sophia enjoyed the salad, breadsticks, my spagetti, and daddy's fettucine alfredo with chicken. She even enjoyed some fried zuccini and calamari. She has pretty advanced taste buds. Then for desert, what could be better than chocolate cake except for chocolate cake with people singing to you. Sophia had a great time. Thanks MiMi and Pardie for sharing Sophia's birthday dinner with us.

Is there any doubt that this girl just adores her MiMi?

A year in review

She is such a pleasure to be around and makes us so happy. I made a little slide show of some pictures over this last year. She has changed so much. We are looking forward to the next year with her.

Princess Party

On Sunday, we had a princess party for Sophia. We figured what better place to have a princess party than at Disney World. Sophia had a great time. She loved all her wonderful presents. The Newlyweds even joined the festivities. We had brunch complete with homemade breads from MiMi, sausage biscuits, and fruit. And of course what brunch isn't complete without a Princess Cake? The cake was so cute. I just loved it. She was not interested in getting into the cake. She actually cried when she got her hands in it. What a wierd baby. Thanks everyone for making her first birthday so special.

The Reception

The reception was out of this world. It was on the Boardwalk at Disney in the Dance Hall. It was beautiful. The pictures we have don't do it justice but take my word for it. There was a pre-reception and then a reception. It was so fancy. The food was delicious. And the cake.....One layer was Bailey's Irish Creme flavored. It was so good. I don't know how Sophia managed it but she ended up falling asleep for about an hour while we were there. She was on everyone's dance ticket. We had a great time.

The Wedding

The wedding was beautiful. It is so wonderful to see two people that are perfect for each other joining their lives together. We didn't have the opportunity to take many pictures. How many adults does it take to keep an 11 month old entertained during a 25 minute ceremony? 2. Yeah, both of us. She was good but we were basically standing on our heads.

What a cute dress! Thanks MiMi!

I've got them right where I want them.

Jen was so beautiful!

Good Morning

After a LONG flight in, Aunt Julia and Uncle Bertie finally made it to Florida (for details see The Aguilar blog). Sophia was happy to see her aunt and uncle. We ordered room service (YUMMY) and then went for a swim in the pool. Sophia loved her pool float and the boys and I loved going down the waterslide.
